Did I mention yelling at the entire financial aid office?

I did. I hadn’t heard anything about my awards package (loans. loans. loans.) from the fin. aid office and I was wondering what happened, so I called ‘em up. I had to fax them a copy of my birth certificate last week due to FAFSA problems, so I did. Then I called to make sure they received it. They did. Yada. They lost it. I had to resend it this morning. There goes getting my tuition on time, assholes. I’ve had more trouble with FSU’s financial aid office than I did with AAU’s in San Fran 3,500 miles away. That’s pretty shitty, man.

Oh, it’s freezing! Actually, down to eight below tonight, and ten tomorrow, tops. Thus, inspired by freezing my butt off when I went out to have a cigarette this morning, I made a chunky rib wool cowl to stuff under the collar of my jacket. It works really well, I’m pleased.
I’m still working on the ivy cap, and I started a cropped shrug, too. I’m just making it up as I go, and it seems to be turning out well, it’s not that hard of a concept.

Classes start on the 20th! Spring semester ‘09 consists of:
-Area studies
-Art History Prehistory - 1450
-Sculpture III
-Senior Exhibit
-Design II:3D

I somehow managed to skip the first Art History, and the second part of Design altogether in the past four years. I assume that going back to classes after a semester off that would be like riding a bike, y’know? I wonder how hard it’s going to be to have to sit through slides of prehistoric art for 90 minutes again…
Saturday is moving day! I’m really happy.

And I leave you with this thought. Cell phones make perfect government tracking devices.

If you’ve bangled one, you’ve bangled ‘em all.

Well, it’s true. I finished these bangles yesterday, they only took about 20 minutes collectively. It was really simple, using a measuring tape (for sewing) measure the width and circumference of the bracelet and base your stitch pattern on that. All you need is a tapestry needle to sew the edges together on the piece. I’m really having a lot of fun with all of the brightly coloured wools I got for christmas :) .

When I laid down (at nearly 5:00 am, I know, I’ve got a west coast sleep pattern in an east coast time zone.) I looked outside and snow! It was pretty while it lasted, when I got up out of bed to have some tea and a cigarette later this morning it was all melted off and the stream was up from the runoff.

I came across some wicked awesome body paintings by Emma Hack. These are fucking amazing. The set that I found are photographs of her wallpaper pieces that -

“merge the human body with the wallpaper designs of Florence Broadhurst. Broadhurst’s lush, organic wallpapers are painted on nude models by Hack, who are then seamlessly inserted into the Broadhurst original. “
These are similar to my friend Michael’s new series that I saw for the first time the other day. What an aesthetically kickass concept. I’m really looking forward to Area Studies this semester, I get to plan the entire course based on my desired outcome of works. It’s really going to help me get my shit together for my exhibit this fall, not to mention that I want to start submitting to juried shows. I haven’t taken any photographs of my girls evolution, they’ve been growing and changing quickly. I have plans for some large paintings done with an airbrush underway. I’d like to start posting sketches soon. Hopefully. *crosses fingers*.

Still working on the ivy cap , it’s coming along wonderfully :-D .
I need to:
- pack
- yell at the entire financial aid office
- work on idea for clay jewelry
I feel kind of gross today, the weather is blah, so I doubt I’ll get anything of worth done aside from a little packing and some knitting. Lazy daze.

Copie d’Arte

First post, I’m really surprised at how under utilized blogsome is. I mean, it’s got tactfully placed advertisements, amazingly customizable themes (honestly, I just chose your basic white and purple theme, did a little werkin’ and bam! Beautiful.)

I put up a couple knitting patterns, I need to take a couple photos to add to them. Soon, I hope. I just finished the black headwrap I’ve been working on, and posted the pattern. Right now I’m working on a kickass newsboy cap in grey for Matt. I’m going to felt it, it should turn out really solid. I’m wicked excited.

This is all I did pretty much all day, I drank entirely way too much last night, a terrible mixture of poor choices. Eugh. I’ll be moving back to Fairmont this next weekend (the 17th?). I can’t wait to get that done and over with so I can get back into the swing of things with everyone and everything there :-)

Oh! My good friend and roommate Sarah Shuman got an awesome commission for some of her works of art at a neat little shop downtown, Vittoria & Banks Art for Your Soul. Check her out on facebook, she’s got some killer talent with colour.

Also, I feel extremely compelled to share this with everyone. It’s a flickr collection that has numerous famous paintings redone with lego people. Really, really fun stuff. Click on the image to take a look at ‘em. They made me smile at least.
